Fusion, Shay Newman, first blessed the turntables with his deft skill mixing House, Electro, Trance, and DnB in 1999. In late 2001,Fusion moved west, to Fort Collins Colorado, to pursue his newest musical interest, Urban Arts-- including Hip-Hop, R&B, and Reggae. He worked long hours to gain perspective of the hip-hop community. This research quickly paid off. Fusion started opening for DJ Sabotage from Denver’s KS107.5 and the notorious Radio Bums/Violator All Star DJ’s. Easily landing new gigs in the Fort Collins area, Fusion began expanding to local hot spots in Denver, Colorado like Club Purple and the Purple Martini.
In 2004 Fusion returned, home, to the Midwest. He set down roots in Madison Wisconsin, where he formed Speakerboxx DJz. Hiring DJs with well-established reputations for professionalism, and filling clubs, Fusion’s networking paid off almost immediately. Speakerboxx quickly became the leading mobile DJ service in Madison. With a successful mobile DJ service, and a new business partner, Fusion was able to expand and give back to the community. He formed afterschool music programs in Madison’s secondary schools. His programs focus on teaching kids the fundamentals of music production, everything from the fine art of mixing with turntables, mastering, music composition, and in-studio software.
Fusion is quite the celebrity in Madison! Fusion’s gift for playing to any crowd finds him in many local clubs throughout the week, and on Fridays he hosts the Friday Night Fiyah on local radio station, 93.1 Jamz (www.madisonjams.com). In 2009 he was inducted to the infamous Violator All Star DJ’s and has continued to climb ever since. His numerous popular mix tapes can be downloaded from fusionmixtapes.com. In 2010 he won “Mix Tape of the Year” from the Underground Music Awards in New York, NY. Fusion continually receives recognition, from the community, for his work. He has
nabbed the coveted title of “DJ of the Year,” three consecutive years in a row (2008-10), from the

Madison Area Music Association (MAMAs).
Fusion has been featured in XXL Magazine, The Source, and published internationally in Hip Hop
Weekly multiple times. Fusion has worked with numerous local and national acts. Snoop Dogg, Bone
Thugs-n-Harmony, Cupid, Singer/Songwriter JSilva, Sammie, Stat Quo, Grandaddy Souf, Yung Berg,
Murphy Lee, Day 26, Ludacris, Chingy, G Unit, Zion I, Mac Lethal, Cappadonna, Rosco, Fred Knuxx,
Felicia Alima, DJ Abilities, Bret Michaels, Silk Ski, & more. Fusion has mixed on the following radio
stations, Sirius/XM (Satellite Radio), WJQM (93.1/106.7), KBDS (103.9), WRBJ (97.7), WORT (89.9), WSUM
